Kathleen Rees

Kathleen Rees is Regents Professor at Texas A&M University-Kingsville and Chair of Human Sciences in the Dick and Mary Lewis Kleberg College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Human Sciences. She earned her doctorate in human ecology from University of Tennessee-Knoxville in retail and consumer sciences. She was president of several international organizations, including the ITFA and the International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA). Prior to coming to Texas A&M-Kingsville, Rees was an associate professor of textiles, apparel design and merchandising at Louisiana State University, and associate and assistant professor of textiles, clothing and design at University of Nebraska-Lincoln. During her career, Rees has written hundreds of book chapters, referred papers and presentations; served on dozens of masters and doctoral committees; and served in leadership roles in several professional societies. She currently holds membership in the International Trade and Finance Association; the International Textile and Apparel Association; the Council of Administrators of Family and Consumer Sciences; Gamma Sigma Delta; Phi Beta Delta; Phi Kappa Phi; and Kappa Omicron Nu; Omicron Nu; Kappa Omicron Phi. In the past, she has been a member of the Korean Society of Marketing Scholars; the International Society for Intercommunications of New Ideas; the Association for Borderland Studies; and the International Federation of Family and Consumer Sciences, just to name a few. Dr. Rees’ vast contributions to ITAA include service on ITAA Council (6 years; President, President-Elect, Counselor, Vice President for Education), Board, (Chair of the Graduate Education Committee), Co-Chair of the ITAA-KSMS Joint Symposium in Seoul, Korea, and numerous committee roles. In ITAA leadership roles, Kathleen has identified opportunities and challenges facing our organization and has effectively provided viable solutions to move ITAA forward.
